We want what’s best for our kids. At the very top of that list is good health. After all, a healthy childhood helps set kids up for a healthier and happier adulthood. And the earlier these good habits are established the better.
Overcoming the stats
Since the 1970s, the number of children affected by childhood obesity has tripled. Busier lifestyles are making it more difficult to stay active. More time in front of screens and poor eating also contribute. Today, one third of children are considered overweight or obese. Another alarming stat––2 out of 3 overweight 10 year olds grow up to be obese adults. The good news is there’s time to make a change by improving diet and increasing activity. We offer a variety of class times at multiple locations to suit families’ busy schedules. Doing so can slow the progression of weight gain, allowing for a child’s height to catch up.
Kick healthy habits into gear with Taekwondo.
Children enrolled in Taekwondo will develop self defense skills, but they get so much more. By participating in an activity they truly enjoy, children are more likely to associate exercise with fun, not dread.
Physical activity that’s fun.
In Taekwondo, kids are kicking, practicing forms, improving strength and endurance and learning self-defense. If that sounds like work, it is! Kids get a great workout and have a blast doing it. Classes are full of variety, so you won’t be hearing the dreaded “I’m bored!”
Build confidence and self-esteem.
As students progress, they get belts to recognize their achievements. Getting new belts requires hard work, but students realize the payoff is worth it. They’re able to say with confidence, “I did it!” Best of all, they enjoy the feeling of accomplishment that comes with hard work and achieving things that seemed less possible before. Naturally their self-confidence and self-esteem will improve.
